4 Natural Remedies for Pregnancy Fatigue (That Really Work!)

Are you pregnant, have no energy and are fatigued? Are you looking for ways to increase energy while being pregnant? Are you in the first or even second trimester of your pregnancy and have no energy?

Are you having pregnancy fatigue at work or need energy to clean while pregnant?

No Energy/Fatigue in the First Trimester of Pregnancy

The first few months of every pregnancy is called the first trimester and is very challenging due to a lack of energy. Your body is undertaking a huge change. Lack of energy is caused by many factors…

First, your body needs to make one and a half times the amount of blood it normally does to support the growing fetus. This puts a huge strain on you physically. (1985 PubMed. Blood Volume Changes in Normal Pregnancy.)

Second, your hormones have gone into overdrive. Large amounts of progesterone flood your entire system. (2017 Healthline. What Bodily Changes Can You Expect During Pregnancy?)

This extra progesterone contributes to exhaustion. And when I say exhaustion, I mean exhaustion.

Before I learned that I was pregnant, I literally thought I was dying. Pregnancy is the only time I’ve had that amount of fatigue.

I could barely move off the couch to take care of my 2-yr-old. I remembered the exhaustion from my pregnancy with him and felt powerless against it.

I had exercised my whole first pregnancy and it only helped a little with the first trimester fatigue.

I tried drinking more water and taking prenatal vitamins and fish oil. I made sure I got plenty of sleep.

I meditated all the time, but the exhaustion was still unbearable.

My must-have list of 4 Great Pregnancy Fatigue Remedies to increase your natural energy when pregnant!

Every pregnancy is different. But, once I hit the second trimester, I felt much better, but for three months, things were rough.

I had to literally roll myself out of bed and then crawl across the floor to start up my gaming system with YouTube.

I found exercises that I could do while lying on the floor, while mumbling, “I can do this! I can do this!” over and over. Yoga and Pilates floor exercises were the easiest.

I feared if I exercised while standing, that I’d fall from overexertion!

Back to my second pregnancy and my newfound power of working with Divine Intelligence.

After a couple of years of trial and error, I’ve learned how to ask for Divine help and meditate for answers.

Besides eating a well-balanced diet of whole organic foods, here are the Pregnancy Fatigue Remedies that gave me the energy to take care of my toddler while pregnant. Fight against pregnancy fatigue with these natural remedies for more pregnancy energy!

Iron –

According to WebMD, you need about double the amount of iron while pregnant to help your body make the extra blood that supports your baby.

This amounts to roughly 27 mg/per day for pregnant mamas. Iron deficiency is very common in pregnant and nursing mothers and is called anemia.

This will cause loss of strength for you and can result in a small or preterm baby.

Babies who are iron deficient in the womb are also more likely to develop anemia later in life. Iron also helps you tune in during your own meditations!

Natural Iron Supplements Increase Energy While Being Pregnant

I took Garden of Life Iron Supplement – Vitamin Code Healthy Blood Raw Whole Food Vitamin.

The iron is taken from raw organic whole foods. It also includes Vitamin C and B Vitamins to help with iron absorption, as well as pre- and probiotics to help with digestion.

I would also recommend: Garden of Life Iron Complex – Vitamin Code Raw Iron Whole Food Vitamin Supplement or Rainbow Light Complete Iron (Gentle on the stomach).

You can also add a wide variety of foods to your diet that are rich in iron including: Beef, chicken, liver, beans, spinach, lentils, dark chocolate, turmeric, and iron fortified cereals.

Of course, dark chocolate was my favorite! Some of the higher cocoa content brands (70% and higher) had as much as 80% of your daily value of iron for one bar!

Although, I had to limit this to keep my sugar intake low…

Organic Powdered Greens Are Wonderful for Pregnancy Fatigue

Part of the reason for exhaustion during pregnancy is that the baby is taking your key nutrients to grow.

You don’t just need more iron, you need more of everything! More vitamins, trace minerals, protein, and sleep!

One way to make sure you get the proper nutrition to grow your new bundle of joy healthy and strong, is to supplement.

Besides a good prenatal vitamin, I recommend greens as a quick, healthy, easily absorbed boost of nutrients to your diet.

A good brand is Garden of Life Vegan Green Superfood Powder – Raw Organic Perfect Whole Food Dietary Supplement. This also contains pre- and probiotics to aid in digestion.

Honey is a Great Natural Energy Source During Pregnancy

Raw, Organic Honey

Increase energy while being pregnant

Replacing sugar with raw, organic honey has many health benefits. According to Dr. Axe, “Raw honey contains 22 amino acids, 27 minerals and 5000 enzymes. It provides an easily absorbed supply of energy in the form of liver glycogen.”

As a bonus, raw honey assists in decalcifying your pineal gland and opening your third eye.

This also greatly assists in “seeing” answers to your questions during meditation!

Something like, Nature Nate’s Organic Raw Honey is a great choice!

Fight Against Pregnancy Fatigue with Protein Powder

Organic Protein Powder

Pregnant and no energy fatigue

(The Game Changer and my best intuitive answer). If you ignore everything else in this post, do not ignore this one! This answer came to me while I was in “The Meditation Zone”.

That beautiful space during meditation where your rational mind finally shuts up and all you hear is your breath. I saw and heard, “Vanilla Protein Powder”.

I must’ve protested thinking protein powders I’ve tried in the past were gross, because the voice said, “You can mix it with any fruit you like. It’s a game changer.”

I was so excited I wrote down what I’d learned. I went to my local health food store and purchased  Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Vanilla Powder (which is delicious with just almond milk by the way!) the next day.

I’ve tried a lot of protein powders and this one is by far the creamiest, blends the best, and also, makes me feel the best after drinking!

I use an Ice Shaker cup to blend my protein powder with Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk and absolutely love it!

It is spill-proof, holds ice for 30+ hours, and comes with an agitator (net-thingy) inside to blend the protein powder smoothly.

Just pour your almond milk in before adding the protein powder to keep clumps from forming at the bottom of the mixer cup.

Then, I add a couple of ice cubes, shake it up, and drink. I usually take an iron pill with my protein shake for a quick morning or afternoon pick-me-up and feel incredible!
