Breath of Fire & Kundalini Yoga have been used for thousands of years to detoxify, purify, develop one’s intuition, and connect with higher states of consciousness.

I have been told by my spirit guides that Breath of Fire and Kundalini Yoga are “gateways” to the Cosmos and other dimensions.

The infinite intelligence of the Creator is in the air. As we pull in more air, we clear out what does not belong to us, such as imbalances and dis-ease.

Things such as anger, fear, guilt, shame, grief, and anxiety leave and are replaced by knowledge, light, joy, abundance, willpower, and success.

Think of the “breath of fire” and Kundalini Yoga as powerful tools in your arsenal for awakening psychic gifts.

I find it funny that people consider these things to be “New Age”, when they are in fact, very “Old Age”.

What Is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga is said to be 5,000 years old and was practiced as early as 1000 B.C. – 500 B.C.

Kundalini Yoga often includes a “mantra” or chant, warmup, kriya (an orchestrated pattern of movements, sounds, breathing, concentration, and meditation that guide your mind and body to a change of consciousness), relaxation, meditation, and closing blessing.

Kundalini yoga is often called the yoga of awareness. Kundalini means “a spiritual energy or life force located at the base of the spine”, which is usually conceptualized as a coiled-up serpent.

It blends movement, breathing techniques, meditation, and chanting into a beautiful flow of awareness that leaves you feeling invigorated and empowered.

It’s like you just combined a shot of espresso with a shot of ginger, minus the jitters.

What is the Breath of Fire Breathing Technique?

“Breath of fire” is a breathing practice commonly used in Kundalini Yoga for the purpose of detoxifying and energizing one’s mind, body, and spiritual connection.

One thing I love about the breath of fire is that I am fully present while doing it.

My mind cannot come up with even one word, let alone yammer incessantly while doing this incredible breathing technique.

How to Do the Breath of Fire Breathing Technique

Breath of fire is a naval pumping breath that involves pulling the belly button up and in towards your sternum as you quickly exhale.

Breath of fire is usually done at a very rapid pace thus increasing the heart rate, eliminating toxins, and circulating the energy throughout the body.

Breath of fire does require some practice to figure it out. If you are a visual learner, there are many instructional videos on how to do this available for free on YouTube.

What are the Benefits of Breath of Fire Breathing?

In my own practice, breath of fire restores my mind to a calm, quiet space and invigorates my physical body.

I feel this amazing tingly-ness and can’t help but grin like an idiot afterwards, which makes me laugh even more.

Some people find it helpful to do a couple of quick kundalini exercises before doing anything that would require heightened awareness.

Things such as business meetings, deep meditation, writing and painting can all greatly benefit by connecting to higher planes of consciousness beforehand.

How to Do Kundalini Yoga to Boost Awareness

Sit in rock pose (up on haunches) or in easy pose (cross legged). Clasp hand together in front of you with forefingers and thumbs pointing outward.

Recite the words “Sat nam” as you lower and raise your arms while doing breath of fire. Recite “Sat” on the inhale with arms lowered in front of you, and “Nam” on the exhale raising your arms above your head as you forcefully pull your naval up and inward.

“Sat nam” translated means “True name”. The chant is calling for you to align with your truth.

Continue this for 2 – 5 minutes. Then feel free to start your creative project, meditation session, or whatever activity heightened awareness will help you with.
