What is a Yeast Infection?
Yeast infection, or Candida (the scientific name), is a fungus that can live almost everywhere, including your body.
Yeast infections can manifest in a variety of ways, such as, thrush (yeast infection causing white patches in the mouth), vaginal yeast infection (vaginitis), and skin yeast infections (causing rash and itching).
Vaginal yeast infection is probably the most common type of yeast infection in women, and is often accompanied by burning, itching, and excess discharge around the vaginal area. (1)

Normally, a healthy immune system and good bacteria in the gut keep yeast infections under control. But yeast infections can happen when people get sick, take antibiotics, or have elevated blood sugar levels (diabetics).

Salt for FAST Yeast Infection Relief
Every good baker or bread maker knows that too much salt will keep your yeast from rising! Yeast thrives on sugar. Salt counteracts this! (2)
A diet overloaded with too much sugar and not enough exercise to keep blood sugar regular, is a perfect breeding ground for candida overgrowth!
To Use: If I ever feel a yeast infection coming on, I simply make myself warm saltwater tea! Just warm a mug of water and mix with about 20 shakes of either Sea Salt or Real Pink Himalayan Salt. Not table salt!
Stir until dissolved and cooled enough to drink and enjoy!
For thrush, simply swish and gargle the warm saltwater tea!
Garlic Treats Candida Overgrowth
Freshly crushed garlic contains a powerful compound known as allicin. Allicin has been shown to antibacterial, antifungal (yeast), antiparasitic, and antiviral activity! (3)
Garlic has been used for ages as an antimicrobial to treat many types of ailments. Garlic has also been shown to have strong antifungal properties and is used in popular Yeast Cleanse pills! (Which I looove!)
To Use: You can use garlic either orally or externally to treat yeast infections. Crush half to one clove 1 – 2 times per day and swallow with water.

To use garlic to treat vaginally, insert a whole garlic clove (peeled), and insert as far back into the vagina as you can reach just before bed.
You can use these handy dandy Vaginal Suppository Applicators to insert the garlic! (I never liked the idea of sticking my finger in there! Yuck!)
It will usually fall out upon urinating in the morning, or you can gently pull it out using clean fingers.
You will probably taste garlic while you do this! It is weird, but perfectly normal!

Yogurt has been shown to reduce the spread of candida and balances yeast infection with good bacteria. (4)

To Use Vaginally: Soak a clean cotton tampon in plain organic yogurt for about 5 minutes. Then insert the tampon into your vagina and leave in for 1-3 hours.

Epsom Salt Bath Relieves Yeast Infection Symptoms
Known as magnesium sulfate which is made up of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen, Epsom salt has been used for hundreds of years for healing and pain relief.
Epsom salt helps stop yeast infections by reducing the growth of the fungi.(6)
To Use an Epsom Salt Soak to Relieve Yeast Infection Symptoms:
Run a warm bath. Add 1-2 cups Epsom Salt until you achieve the desired level of relaxation in your bath (It relaxes sore muscles due to the magnesium).
Stir around and soak in the relief for as long as you want! I’ve found it difficult to find Epsom salt in stores without fragrances added and in bags big enough to add to bath water, so you can buy it plain on Amazon for a good price here!
Apple Cider Vinegar has Antifungal Properties Against Yeast Infections
I use apple cider vinegar for bladder infections, liver detox, energy, and almost everything in between! Apple Cider Vinegar, I prefer Bragg’s, which is organic and raw, contains strong antifungal properties to fight yeast infection. (7)
To Use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for Vaginal Yeast Infection Relief: Add a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar to warm bath water and swish around. Soak for 15-30 minutes.
To Use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) internally for Yeast Infection: Take as directed from the manufacturer. Mix this amount with 8 oz. water and drink.
To minimize the taste, you can add warmed honey or a couple teaspoons of baking soda to the mix to enjoy it fizzy!
